CTEK partners with Yamaha to create YEC-8 battery charger

Intelligent battery chargers to feature in latest Yamaha accessory range

CTEK, a leading global brand in the care and maintenance of vehicle batteries, has today announced a partnership with Yamaha creating a brand new battery charger to be sold as part of the latest range of Genuine Yamaha accessories.

Yamaha chose CTEK to help create the YEC-8 battery charger which will be sold as part of an innovative new range of accessories for the brand’s range of motorcycles.

CTEK was chosen as Yamaha's partner based on its unique battery charging technology and has worked to create a product that has a specific ability to connect to vehicles where the battery may be difficult to access, such as on motorcycles.

The YEC-8 charger is a fully automatic switch mode charger which analyses the state of the battery, charges and automatically switches to maintenance charging when ready. The charger has a patented method for desulphation designed to keep the capacity and extend the life of the battery. The YEC-8 charger will be sold exclusively via Yamaha Motor’s network of authorised dealers.

Yamaha supplies two dedicated accessories. A plug with longer wiring and a ‘traffic-light’ style indicator that continuously shows the condition of the battery and also a ‘panel-plug’ with extra long (1.5 metre) wiring that can be conveniently mounted on the dashboard of the motorcycle or scooter.

Customers can buy with confidence knowing that this charger has been thoroughly tested by Yamaha’s Motorcycle Engineers, giving customers real peace of mind.
